Andy Warhol and Marilyn Monroe
Andy
Warhol, who from early childhood was fascinated with celebrities and stardom,
became the inspiration for a significant portion of his work. His famous
silkscreen's of Marilyn Monroe helped to solidify the legendary status of them
both. Like many, Andy Warhol was drawn to Marilyn Monroe, but he felt that
he uniquely understood her in a way that other's couldn't.
Other Artist's with interpretations of Marilyn
 |
Artist
L. Ritter has a series of embellished paintings of Marilyn Monroe
and others. These black and white paintings all have one
exception. The color red used on her lips. A well done work
and wonderful contrast. |
 |
Artist
Richard
Hall does this piece on Marilyn. Richard's work doesn't quite
fit into a single category. His style and subject matter vary
greatly and he experiments with photography as well. We think this
piece of Marilyn however is wonderful. |
 |
Artist
Santiago Poveda does this unique piece on Marilyn called Dibujo
Marilyn. Much of Poveda's work is "retro", even bordering on
cartoon. He has many vintage pieces, focuses on the colors black
and red. |
 |
Artist
Vladimir Gorsky is famous for his wildly colorful retro
interpretations of celebrities, including Marilyn Monroe, James Dean,
Elvis, Ray Charles, and Frank Sinatra. |
